This will revolutionize pda, business lunches, sightseeing, schoolwork etc.
We all saw Tom Cruise in that movie where he was pointing and moving icons on a virtual screen/wall. We are not too far off from that now.
I have to stop at the Starwood Sheraton next month and see if they have one of the new tabletop multi-touch computers in the lobby. One of the "concepts" from the conecept video is we will be able to lay your device onto the tabletop and would magically(el Bluetooth I suppose) zap info, photos, videos, documents into your phone, pda, laptop etc.
It shows a man laying down his phone, his contacts appear on the tabletop map as star icons, he taps them (presumably) to add them ((or DELETE them)) from his plans.
HOW freaking cool is that?
God, I want to be a youngster in 50 years. How magnificent this world will be technologically....if we aren't all dead by then.

Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet
Lazy day Saturday lurking on YT I stumbled upon a snipette of my all time favorite movie. Of course (not having the movie here in NJ) I watched the entire movie again 9 minutes at a time....lol
A lot of the comments on the vids seem to be from young students watching it for English class. Many are comparing the looks of Romeo - Leonard Whiting to that of Zack Efron ( I had to look that one up, no teens in this house anymore).
Yes, the look eerily similar. Both very handsome.
Juliet - Olivia Hussey is such a beauty. She was 15 when the film was made. They still are friends. There are several print interviews on the web as well as excerpts from an interview with Olivia Hussey from a classic film tribute at the Castro Theatre in San Fransisco.
Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet.
We saw it in highschool. I was 15 at the time. I remember the boy I was in madly in love with at the time.
We read Shakespeare's play during the same time.
I loved the movie (which we saw on film-projector and all).Last year we picked up the DVD. I keep it in SC. Have watched it a few times. Will watch it again.Young love, forbidden love, conflict, family feuds, this play is a must read, the DVD/film is a must see.
Some of my favorite scenes:
*The costume ball where Romeo first sees Juliet ( he was in "love" with Rosaline). He sees her and is mesmerized. She notices after a unintentional glance. They dance then lose sight of eachother. I laughed when he grasped her hand from behind the column surprising her.
*The Balcony. What girl doesn't love that?
*Mercutio dies. "You ask for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man", "why the devil came you between us? I was hurt under your arm", "a plague on both your houses", "They've made worm's meat....of ...me"
*Romeo slews Tybalt "I am fortunes fool"
*The morning after...again, it's a girl thing.
*"Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband?"
*Juliet begging Friar for help. She gets the flask of poison "Give it to me!"
*The damned, slow donkey!! Good Lord, what bad timing!!
*The crypt scene both when Romeo finds Juliet, then when she finds him, dead.
I hope highschoolers are still required to read this play.

Bankbook
Remember when you handed the teller your bankbook along with your deposit?
You saw your $$ tally and you just knew you'd be a millionaire someday.
Hey, technology is great, we need it, really BUT I still long for the "good ole days" bankbook in hand.
We do some banking online, billpay too.
I had to tweak the system a little. Not opening the mail is a little weird. Not buying stamps is a little weird too.
We did a lot of research a few years ago. We had accumulated moderate debt. His, mine and ours all in one bit pot. We weren't in trouble but we were looking into our first house.
David Bach and his "Latte Factor", Finance pages at Yahoo and Bankrate all had wonderful articles about savings, debt reduction, saving and retirement.

Panacea81
Lauren Luke AKA Panacea81 on YouTube and her blog is a makeup Cinderella story.
I first saw Lauren's videos when I was looking for reviews on mascara.
Mah Scah Rah, her accent sings.....She's from NE England, had an Ebay store, then video how to's. She hawked products from Barry M and often talked about Mac and Bare Essentuals mineral makeup. If you take a look at her videos she was flown to NYC and is being given the opportunity to have her own line of cosmetics.
The funny thing about Lauren, she doesn't think shes beautiful.
She's quite stunning actually. She has a crooked smile but it adds to her charm.
Check her out, it's worth your time.
Watch at least one and catch her signature "Zoom Zoom".

Breathing is nice
It's lovely to have an ephiphany, especially when it's in regard to your health.
I noticed something this last week.
I was nearly late for work three times last week.
The "tardies" are forced to park far away.
I was scurrying across the parking lot and noticed that I was walking at a good clip. Much faster than I would think a chubby girl could.
HA!
The TINY, oh so freaking tiny bit of weight that I have lost since January is frustrating. The WONDERFUL part of this stinking journey is my health is obviously changing for he better.
I was NOT out of breath walking across the parking lot.
I did not sweat walking across the parking lot.
It is nice to notice.
Okay, so "they say" I have sleep apnea. My lung function has definitely improved.
I HATE my CPAP machine. I really do. I don't think I am sleeping better. I am still sleepy when I wake up, isn't everyone? I do have to wake up at 5am though.
Co morbidities of obesity are many.
Joint pain, hypertension, diabetes, crapped out lung function, sleep apnea.
I hate that term.....or rather I hate that I have it.
I'm essentially too fat for my trachea and the tissues surrounding my trachea.
Slap in the face, but I did it to myself.
Watch out self, it;s CHANGING!
Why isn't the change good enough sometimes, the timeline?
Yes, I know, the weight didn't come on overnight. blah blah blah
Feelin' good today!

Myrtle Beach
Decided to forego returning to the beach for a few weeks.
Myrtle will still be there.
I can make great money up here in NY.
Walking club is taking off. I actually think I LIKE walking again.
I hope to be running soon.
I thought I would be ready for the Komen half marathon in October @ SixFlags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. I am in NO WAY ready for that.
My run/walk sprints have slowed significantly.
Trying a new route tomorrow.
I'll map it over at mapmyrun.com.
Grab your new credit cardApply for the Discover® Open Road Card today! link goes direct to application

Oceanic dump of the Pacific Rim
3.5 million tons of JUNK. Plastic soup. An area twice the size of Texas a thousand miles off of North America?? I have to read more about this.
I heard about this a few years ago and like many busy overconsuming Americans I read about it, switched to glass containers, then forgot about it the next time a case of bottled water went on sale at Stop&Shop.
OMGoodness. I stink! I'm getting more stainless bottles from LLBean.
I have Nalgene bottles but now they are supposedly dangerous to drink from.
This Oceanic floating mess is killing us slowly.
Tiny bits of semi degraded plastic chips not quite settling, not quite floating in the ocean.
Plastic sand the man on tv is calling it.
We have really screwed up this planet.
Jellyfish, fish, birds, turtles all geting caught up in plastic twine and shopping bags.
If they don't die from being suffocated they are dying from ingesting the plastic chips/slush. If they don't die...hmmm..they are food for the next on the food chain...then up and up and up until some couple splits grilled Sea Bass in Cape Cod.
Their children have nosocomial symptoms but are basically healthy, or ARE they?
Their children, grandchildren....hmm...I wonder.
At least I'll be dead in 30, 40 or 50 years.

Toys, gifts, Xmas is coming FAST!
Elmo, Wii, Wii fit, Optimus Prime.
What will the big toy be for this upcoming holiday season?
Little faces everywhere will
yearn for the must have, need it now, Johnny has one toy.
For the adults, do they want the camera, the sat radio, the new bike, the treadmill?
It boggles the mind!
I have friends starting, and some completing their lists already.
I am a late shopper. I am not that organized.
Last few years over 80% of our holiday shopping was done online.
Toys, electronics, even clothes all bought online. Buy now, wrap later. There is too much going on during the holidays to have to worry about shopping.
Many retailers have online coupons or shipping specials so check in frequently.

Netflix
Filled up the truck again today. It cost over $70 dollars.
It is becoming ridiculous.
I understand prices rising but last year we paid a dollar LESS. Seems to me too big of a jump in prices.
I'm supposed to be happy I suppose because prices have fallen in the last few days.
Contemplated going to the movies last weekend but the nice movie theater is 15 miles away. Gas for the drive plus stopping for dinner proves too costly lately.
I think we'll just up our Netflix to get one extra video.
We have the plan where we can rent two at a time at $13.99.
Plans start at $4.99.
The great thing about Netflix is there is no hurry to return, nor penalty for late movies.
We actually hadn't gotten to the last movie for more than three weeks.
We had gotten a few rounds of single movies being sent in that time.
Open the mailbox, there's a movie.
When you're finished, throw it into the pre paid envelope which is provided, then pop it into the mailbox.
How simple is that?
You can sign up for Netflix here. Try it FREE!!

Six Mile Run -- Walk
Well, uploading my walk/run into Nike+ and read somewhere on the site that people are using mapmyrun.
I signed up.
I THOUGHT I uploaded the walk/run here but it isn't working.
Nice , if it works.
Jury is still out.

I can see it too
The moon, although not full, sparked a pleasant memory tonight.
I said to someone once in a past life....oh, about 11 years ago...
Me: "I tell ya' what"
Him: "What?"
Me: "Look up"
Him: "Okay, what am I looking for?"
Me: "Look at the moon, can you see it?"
Him: "Yeah, I see it"
Me: "I see it too, see, we aren't that far away"
Him: "Yeah"
I loved you....thanks for the memory
Finally....in the groove
Ahh to day was one of those days when everything just works.
Woke up, made us a great healthy breakfast.
Farted around reading email for about an hour then headed out with the camera and new tripod and shot loads of pictures.
Princeton is lovely. I love walking around town people watching.
It's prettiest in the Fall.
Today wasn't as hot as it has been. The humidity here has been wicked.
I suppose it is better than being South(which I will be in a few weeks).
Summers in the South nearly kill me. When I am not working, I'll take it but when I am working and having to brave the heat....NOT GOOD!
Back to today.
I got back from the shoot around 2p.m.
I needed to get my walk/run in.
Strapped up the Polar F11 HRM, threw on my Nike+ sneaks, grabbed the Ipod and went out.
I keep forgetting to clip on my Omron Pedometer. Although I am tracking with Nike+ I like to see the steps displayed throughout the day. I am also in a walking group from WalkingSpree and the "tube".
I intended on taking my normal route however today was so pretty I went further.
Hey, I could stroll or sit down if it got to be too strenuous.
Guess what?!
It was GREAT!
I even got in running at least once every 5 minutes.
Been doing a lot of introspection lately with my contemplating Lapband.
My battles with my doctor and my many appointment with sub specialists are providing me with "cause for pause".
Pause for Sestamibi and possible hypoparathyroidism
Pause for a leaking ventricle and possible heart disease
Pause for Stress Thallium
Pause for Sleep studies and Cpap machines
Pause for protein drinks and calorie restriction
Pause for shin splints and sore ankles
My "whys" and "hows" are being redefined everyday with each new roadblock.
Been thinking a lot about Randy Pausch, his dying and his "Last Lecture".
I bough this book on CD (for my long drives) and a few copies of the book.
It is small, 5x8 maybe, and is rough cut. The pages are "torn", not clean crisp edges.
I'll give them as Christmas gifts.
He wrote/said -- and others have said the same but it's worth repeating.
"Brick walls (in this case my roadblocks) are there for a reason. They give us a chance to show how badly we want something."
In my seeking surgery I have, once again, recommitted to strive for a healthy lifestyle.
I USED to eat well.
I USED to exercise regularly.
I USED to take the time for my hobbies.
I USED to feel pretty great a lot.
I'm doing all of those things again. Not perfectly but I am doing them more often.
Today, I was in the groove and it felt great.

Ok, so I liked the BSN Lean Dessert protein shakes.

What is SMUGMUG
Well....
Last year I was gifted a beautiful camera.
It is the Canon 40D.
It came along with two lenses.
The whole kit, although exciting has become a little intimidating!!
I was "into" photography way back a lifetime ago in highschool.
We had a little darkroom and I had a tiny Minolta fixed lens camera.
I loved everything about developing film and capturing my vision.
Further learning beyond the basics fell by the wayside. Sad huh?
In having this new camera in my life you can imagine I went shoot crazy!!
Then came the photo editing.
BTW, it being a DIGITAL SLR only made it better...or worse..lol for me!
I have thousands of pics which I try to edit when I can.
The winners....are kept on CD, an external HD and uploaded to the internet.
I looked around for a new place to hold my pics online.
I stumbled upon SMUGMUG and signed up for their FREE TRIAL.
Fell in love with the site and quickly signed up permanently.
Check it out, you'll be happy you did!

FOUR FREAKIN CALLS
Have called the freaking office FOUR times since last week.
Can you say pissed off!?
Can you say pissed off!?
Sunday, August 3, 2008
Well didn't that suck...
...last week that is.
What is it?
The road to hell is paved with good intentions?
Life is what happens to you while you are busy making plans?
INTENDED on really pushing through the week and logging at least 15 miles.
Wasn't I supposed to be running straight by now?
I'm lucky if I do 1 minute intervals.
What did I do in reality? 8, MAYBE.
PLANNED on keeping strict on carbs(no, not eliminating them) and what did I do?
BREAD, BREAD and more bread.
What is it?
Why is it?
Who knows?
I sure don't.
Great news though, I get to try to do it again tomorrow.
I GET to. That's the prize!
There are some who do not have tomorrow.
The world said goodbye to Randy Pausch.
Great man. I'm glad I heard about him.
I'm glad I saw the Last Lecture.
This week WILL be a week of kicking ass though.
I will call the Dr and surgeons offices and get the thing rolling!
